Albuquerque Comic Con AKA Geek Nirvana

Day 139

We had an amazing weekend full of swim meets and more importantly Albuquerque's Comic Con

For this event I was requested to create a jacket from one of my daughter's most recently favorite manga's (of which she has many) IT WAS A DISASTER ...the fabric sucked, the color wasn't right, the pattern was extremely confusing at one portion~yet another reason why I normally don't follow patterns~ and just a word of wisdom--> staying up till 3AM staring at the pattern, sewing it together, taking it apart, moving it around and staring some more is not going to make it fix itself ANYWAY it really did not matter that that particular jacket ended up being such a bomb because the tweenie says "well mom its okay they wear other clothes too" oh ok so I really did not need to worry about the jacket that you stressed out over and bugged me about for weeks now UGH

At least I got done the little bunny that the character carries around with him--cute little thing--drew out my own pattern and I am going to tweak it a bit and make some more for other little geeks 8) who also love this manga and believe me they are out there because a little girl came up to me at the swim meet babbling like a crazy person about how much they loved this manga and anime...

TADA....hiding an ear and doing a split on my keyboard...reminds me of a Katamari character-one of my favorite beyond goofy video games.... apparently this is known as 'Bun-Bun or Usachan (Small Bunny in Japanese)'

And now for the good stuff...some of the best costumes we saw....
This Houndoom (from Pokemon) costume was all handmade by a friend of my daughter~my daughter is the one in the hat and was recognized by several kids for the character she was supposed to be--> Hunny from Ouran High School Host Club

All hail mighty Thor <--movie coming out soon woohhoo --> Trailer AWESOMEness and might I say new Star Trek 'Kirk's' dad is gonna be a great Thor and he is almost as cute as new Kirk :)

Who's watching the Watchmen?
Some very lovely anime girls

Handsome Browncoat not quite Captain Malcolm but he'll do...

Sandtroopers with authentic battle damage....apparently they have to craft (paint) the battle damage themselves AWESOME... right sexy too WOO but isn't that one on the left a little short for a storm trooper? LOL if you don't get that line you are not a Star Wars geek

Girl you need to get your hair colored again your roots are showing....see even Predator gets his hair done

Hands down favorite costume of the day....old school Captain America

Pig, I need a pig here.....check out the thread spools on the wraparound thingie

Surprisingly and THANKFULLY very little spandex, mostly retired Green Lanterns and only a couple Leia slave costumes (seriously folks its over and you're in your early 40s THATS JUST NOT RIGHT)

Funniest comment came from my daughter getting freaked out over all the 'cops' all over the place...turns out they were Imperial Officers....guess who needs to be re-educated in Star Wars eh?!

And next year guess who is gonna be having a booth and dressing up?! Oh yea thats me...gotta think of a good costume that is totally me hmmmm
